State Senator Joan Heckaman announces re-election bid
(BISMARCK, ND) – State Senator and Assistant Senate Minority LeaderJoan Heckaman (Democrat – New Rockford) announced today that she will be seeking re-election to the State Senate from District 23. Senator Heckaman released the following statement:

“I have been honored to have been given the opportunity to work on behalf of the constituents of District 23 and I want to continue to work for them in the next four years.

“During my Senate tenure, I’ve worked with members of both parties to find common sense solutions that advance economic opportunities in our rural district. I want to continue this work.

“I also want to continue to work on making sure North Dakota makes the necessary future-focused investments in early childhood education, child care, and pre-Kindergarten, along with addressing the unique challenges facing rural K-12 school districts. Investing in our future also means that we have to do more, and be smarter, about investing in infrastructure to keep our citizens safe and to maintain economic growth.

“Finally, in the present energy boom, we cannot forget about our state’s first industry, agriculture. I want to continue to push legislation that enables this vital industry to thrive.

“District 23 has always been good to me. I’m asking for their support so we can continue the progress we’ve made over the last few years.” (END)
